Conceptual & Schematic Design
Every project culminates with the desire to change something. Whether it is a rebuild of a small nook to meet your growing family’s needs or building a brand-new house, these ideas and thoughts are explored through the Conceptual and Schematic design phase. There is value in discussing ideas (even if they don’t come to fruition) to better gage functionality, necessity, approximate cost, and overall design aesthetic. During the conceptual and schematic design phase, we will explore what those items might be for you and your project.
Conceptual and schematic design….what do those terms actually mean? Conceptual design is the process of brainstorming a wide range of thoughts, ideas, wants, needs, and wish lists. Alot of time people start this process on their own by creating visioning boards and saving inspirational images of things that catch their eye in some fashion. Schematic design takes all the information from the conceptual phase and makes them into a plausible option for the project. It provides plans and 3d imagery to represent the pros and cons of the design while giving options for potential better solutions. Both of these design phases include several meetings with the designer and home owner to fully understand the space that is needed while providing the look that is desired. The images below represent the “concept” phase with visioning images, a schematic 3d model of how those ideas can come together as a built structure, and a rendering to show what the final product might look like.
